Redhead is famous for its headland cliff and freshwater creeks and is home to the Redhead Surf Life Saving Club. The Redhead Pump Track is located a short distance away.

Council lifeguards patrol annually from the September/October school holidays through to April. Patrol times are Monday-Sunday, 9am-5pm. Local Surf Life Saving Club volunteers also patrol, their patrol times are dependent on their clubs and holiday periods. Patrol times may extend during busy or dangerous conditions.
