LSF Sunday Sessions, sponsors confirmed for Living Smart Festival 2019

Melbourne acoustic folk duo Jack The Fox will headline September’s inaugural LSF Sunday Sessions – part of an expanded Living Smart Festival celebrating the event’s 10th anniversary.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the free event would feature food and coffee vendors, an over-18s bar and an eclectic line-up of original acoustic acts.

“Living Smart Festival has always been a laid-back, family-friendly event,” Cr Fraser said.

“We’re hoping the addition of LSF Sunday Sessions to the festival will continue this trend, while also attracting a younger audience.”

Jack The Fox comprises Angus Robb (vocals/didgeridoo/harmonica) and Justin Lewis (guitar/lap slide).

Other confirmed Sunday Sessions acts include Megan Core, Tim Harding, Mark Wells, The Andy Show, Beth Gleeson, Jarrad & Brie Acoustic Duo and Sam Windley.

Cr Fraser said new and returning Living Smart Festival sponsors would help deliver a bigger, better event this year, with Hunter Resource Recovery – responsible for kerbside recycling in Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and Singleton – coming on board as a major event partner and presenter of LSF Sunday Sessions.

“HRR’s core values and “Recycle Right” message align closely with the Living Smart theme,” Cr Fraser said.

“We’re excited to have them and our other sponsors on board for 2019. Their support will get our message of everyday sustainability out to an even wider audience.”

Greater Bank, Stockland Glendale, Lake Macquarie City Farmers Markets and The Good Guys are also sponsoring this year’s Living Smart Festival.

HRR Chief Executive Officer Roger Lewis said his company had been involved in the festival since its beginning.

“Every resident has a responsibility towards providing a more sustainable future, and an event such as Living Smart Festival provides them with the knowledge and tools to do so,” Mr Lewis said.

 “The festival’s ethos aligns with those of our company – providing the community with knowledge about how every action we take affects our environment.”

Greater Bank Head of Marketing and Customer Experience Matthew Hingston said his organisation had come on board to demonstrate how behavioural change could help both the environment and people’s bank balances.

“Living Smart Festival is a wonderful event that not only increases the awareness and need for us all to be more environmentally conscious, but also provides the education and tools to put this thinking into practice,” Mr Hingston said.

This year’s Living Smart Festival includes a Friday night Feast For the Senses under the stars and a Saturday main event featuring Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis, workshops, stalls, markets, displays and performances all in keeping with the sustainable living theme.
