With the expansion of Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery closer to completion, Lake Macquarie City Council is calling on educators, installers and volunteers to nominate to help bring the refurbished space to life.

Council’s Arts, Culture and Tourism Manager Jacqui Hemsley said Council is seeking professional exhibition installers, art tutors and volunteers to become part of the Gallery team.

“This is an exciting opportunity for members of our community to become part of a dedicated team delivering quality exhibitions, events and educational programs from this new space,” Ms Hemsley said.

“With a rebrand and a revamp of the space to be launched in November, this facility is set to become a destination point in the City.

Once complete the redevelopment project will help boost the role of arts in Lake Macquarie City.

“The Gallery redevelopment is just one component of our plans to develop an active arts and cultural precinct between Booragul, Speers Point and Warners Bay,” Ms Hemsley said.

The $2.3 million redevelopment of the Gallery includes extended exhibition and programming areas, an outdoor programming space, additional storage space and a new cafe.

Expressions of interest for educators and installers are open until Monday 30 September 2019.

Applications for volunteer positions close on Friday 18 October 2019.
