Speers Point to Glendale shared pathway

Speers Point to Glendale shared path (3).JPG

This 2.5km shared pathway runs between Speers Point and Glendale following Cockle Creek, with new bench seating and water stations installed along the way. The pathway skirts Waratah Golf Course and at its end in Glendale, links up with the Wallsend Rail Trail, connecting cyclists in Lake Macquarie to bike routes that can take them to suburbs in Newcastle and community facilities such as the University of Newcastle.

Completed early 2022, upgrades have been made to pedestrian crossings along the pathway, new kerb and gutter installed in sections, and more than 15,000 shrubs and trees were planted. The shared pathway project also included installation of a 550m fence along the golf course.
