Historic Photographic Collections and Resources

The Lake Macquarie History Online website is a great resource in support of the current K-6 Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) syllabus as well as the new NSW K-10 History Syllabus, especially where local content is required.

Awaba: Know Our Stories (Travelling Exhibition)

Provide an enriching cultural and educational experience at your school, community facility or workplace with the Lake Macquarie City Council touring exhibition Awaba: Know Our Stories.

Meet our Aboriginal neighbours.  Each exhibition panel features Aboriginal community members talking about life at Lake Macquarie, work and impact, family, community, identity and history accompanied by their portrait.  Exhibition participants are available to activate the exhibition at your site.

The exhibition content can be used by schools in meeting the Cross Curriculum Priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.  It is also gives students an opportunity to develop their General Capabilities.  The exhibition may assist in teaching Indigenous cultural awareness at your workplace or supporting NAIDOC week at your community facility.

The exhibition is supplied free of charge and will be installed by Lake Macquarie City Council staff.
